BioTim has been active in research and development in search engines, multimedia, and online services for more than ten years. He is currently a Director at eBay, where he oversees applied science for eBay's marketing efforts, fraud protection, and trust.
Previously, he was a development lead at Bing, where he was responsible for several prominent features on the search results page. His team was responsible for understanding the diverse data that Bing returns in response to a user's query, and leveraging this understanding to build compelling user experiences. Tim has also contributed to several of Bing's other features, including the frontend for image and video search, the spell correction feature, and the captions that are shown for each result of a user's search. Prior to his time at Bing, Tim was a researcher at Telstra Research Labs, and a doctoral student at RMIT University, where he conducted innovative research in video search. Tim holds several patents in the US, and is the author of many peer-reviewed articles in the area of information retrieval. More Information |
